Who Has the Advantage Now? How AI Is Redrawing the Skills Map

AI is reshuffling the deck when it comes to who has which abilities, who is disadvantaged in what ways, and who needs to be involved — and how.
This new skills map is no longer based on age, personal disposition, or role. A person with a disability who knows how to delegate work to AI agents or prompt contextually can suddenly be superskilled and capable of doing something better than their colleagues.
At the same time, people without disabilities may suddenly find themselves experiencing something that corporate vocabulary doesn’t yet have a name for: deskilling, never-skilling, and mis-skilling.
Let’s talk about what these terms mean, where they create new needs for inclusion, and how we can play these new cards — both as individuals and as HR professionals.
